Obstetrician Gynecologist (OBGYN) Jobs
Obstetrics/Gynecology
There is a shortage of physicians choosing to pursue a residency in obstetrics and gynecology, creating a shortage of OB/GYNs and providing many job opportunities for physicians wishing to pursue a career in this field. Physicians that focus their training in obstetrics and gynecology are specialists in a woman’s health. OB/GYNs counsel women about general health matters, especially a woman’s reproductive system. Potential OB/GYNs attend undergraduate and medical school before beginning a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. The residency takes four years to complete. A physician may also complete a fellowship in a specialized area of obstetrics and gynecology such as OB/GYN surgery. OB/GYNs can expect to earn between $200,000 and $300,000 per year depending on whether one works in a hospital or private practice.
