OB (Obstetrics)
OB nurses help mothers deliver and care for babies in a variety of settings including hospitals and clinics. In addition, an obstetrics nurse will care for the mother during and after delivery. OB nurses must be able to deal with stressful situations and flourish in a fast-paced work environment. Educational requirements for an obstetric nurse include the completion of a nursing education at an undergraduate or trade school and the passage of the national nursing examination to become an RN. Then, many OB nurses receive on-the-job training in the obstetrics department of a hospital or clinic.
Job opportunities for nurses including OB nurses are numerous across the country and will continue to be excellent in the next decade. The salary for an OB nurse varies from $50,000 to $75,000 per year according to the nurse’s skill and place of employment.
