The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The RN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams and carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required. The RN performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. The RN assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
The Orthopaedic / Neurospine/ Orthospine unit is a dynamic state-of-the art unit providing care for patients undergoing Neurospine, Orthospine and other orthopaedic Surgeries.
Types of surgery common on this unit include Orthospine and Neurospine procedures including laminectomy, discectomy, foraminotomy and spinal fusions, as well as some other orthopaedic procedures such as joint replacements and soft tissue tumor removals
The unit focuses on cutting edge pain management modalities, evidence-based post-surgical interventions and advanced surgical interventions.
Nurses support their patients with an interdisciplinary approach. The dynamic patient care team consists of surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, dietitians, case managers and social workers.
Required Qualifications
* One year of recent RN clinical experience (within the past 2 years) in a medical surgical acute care unit
* Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
* Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
* Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
* Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations
Preferred Qualifications
* BSN
* Recent clinical RN experience in an academic medical center
* Three (3) months or more of orthopaedic/ neuro spine experience in an acute care facility
* Orthopaedic Certification/ Pain Certification
License/Certification
* Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
* Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
