Position Highlights


Work location: Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas, TX 75231.


Work environment: Emergency Department


Work hours:



  • Full Time, 36 hours/week.

  • Three 12-hour Night shifts per week, 7:00pm – 7am, with every other Saturdays and Sundays.


Salary range: Minimum: $18.13/hour – Maximum: $27.65/hour, based on relevant experience.


Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas is an 898-bed, Magnet-designated hospital and recognized clinical program leader, having provided compassionate care to the residents of Dallas and surrounding communities since 1966. A full-service regional referral center, Texas Health Dallas has approximately 3,500 employees and 1,100 physicians on its medical staff, and offers a full range of services, including cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, orthopedics, senior care, women's services and a renowned Level III neonatal intensive care unit. Texas Health Dallas has been recognized as a U.S. News and World Report Best Hospital in multiple specialties and is an accredited Cycle IV Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The hospital is also a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, a certified Emergency Stroke Care center and was named “Best Place to Have a Baby” in Dallas County in 2012.


Qualifications



  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required.

  • 3 months Paramedic experience or completion of a Paramedic Internship required.

  • 1 year of Paramedic experience in an EMS or Fire Department preferred.

  • 1-2 years of recent Paramedic experience in an acute care hospital Emergency Room setting highly preferred.

  • Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT- P), or, Licensed Paramedic (LP) upon hire required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire date.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required within 90 days of hire date and required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire date.

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training required within 60 Days of hire date.


Skills & Abilities:


Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced environment, positive interpersonal skills, good verbal, and written communication skills, able to perform basic computer skills.


Position Responsibilities


Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas Paramedics are responsible for providing an excellent patient healthcare experience at each Texas Health site.


Essential Functions


Accountability/Basic Human Needs:

Provides Safe Patient Care Under Physician Delegation:



  • Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, antiemetic, non-narcotic pain medication and ACLS drugs (excluding drips) using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations

  • Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record

  • Provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs

  • Applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices

  • Cervical collar management

  • External defibrillation

  • Nasal cannula or oxygen mask application

  • Nasopharyngeal insertion and removal

  • Oral airway insertion and removal

  • Oxygen therapy/delivery

  • Pacemaker assessment of function

  • Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV Access

  • Wound care dressing and application

  • Incentive spirometry Other duties as assigned by RN

Provides daily care that achieves outcome targets for core measures, NPSG, employee satisfaction, patient satisfaction, NDNQI and other unit/organizational metrics; demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning and development; demonstrates a commitment to advancing the professional practice of paramedicine; incorporates ethical principles from the Texas Department of State Health Services EMT Code of Ethics.
