Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation
Location:University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts, BWI
Position Type:Full-time, Immediate Opening
The University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS), a modern medical school located on the island of St. Kitts, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in medical school administration, preferably in the United States, Canada, or the UK, and a strong understanding of accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee compliance and quality improvement activities for the UMHS medical education program.
- Ensure adherence to LCME and ACCM accreditation standards and St. Kitts regulations.
- Develop compliance monitoring systems, collect and analyze data, and provide recommendations for quality improvement.
- Assist in preparing the annual institutional Self Study and Database required by multiple accreditors and states.
- Collaborate with administration and faculty to enhance educational quality and student experience.
- Serve on the strategic planning committee, developing measurable metrics and assessment tools.
- Aid in the development and implementation of short and long-range compliance and quality improvement goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a medical school setting (preferably in the US, UK, or Canada).
- An M.D. or Ph.D. in a science field with additional training in educational administration, focusing on accreditation and quality control.
- Proven experience with LCME/ACCM accreditation processes and continuous quality improvement systems.
- Strong knowledge of campus policies, US federal regulations, and St. Kitts laws concerning medical education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with diverse groups.
- Proficiency in educational software and technologies supporting continuous accreditation, including curriculum mapping and compliance monitoring systems.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports directly to the Dean of Basic Science Program with a dotted line to the Provost (Chief Academic Officer).
- Opportunity for teaching and additional administrative responsibilities may be available depending on the candidates qualifications.
