According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities in the nursing field will be excellent in the next decade. An RN, or a registered nurse, treats and educates patients in a variety of settings, including a hospital or private practice doctor’s office. Educational requirements include obtaining an associate’s degree in nursing, a bachelor’s of science in nursing or a diploma from a nursing program. All nursing graduates must must pass a national exam to become an RN. Nursing provides a stable career but usually requires a nurse to work long shifts and be able to stand for long periods. In addition, nurses work in highly stressful environments. However, nursing pays well, and an RN earns between $50,000 to $70,000 per year based on experience, sector of employment and geographical location.
