CNA/ Nurse Assistant
Job opportunities for certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are excellent according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. CNAs work in nursing care facilities or hospitals and assist patients in a variety of tasks including dressing patients, serving meals, and bathing. CNA’s work under the direction of a nurse or a physician. An individual considering a career as a nurse assistant should be physically able to stand for longs periods and be able to handle patients that become uncooperative or irritable. Educational requirements vary by state but generally, to become a certified nurse assistant an individual must complete a state approved educational program. Programs may be offered at a variety of locations including vocational schools and community colleges. In addition, a state may require a candidate pass a state administered licensing examination. CNA’s earn $10 to $13 per hour depending on their skill and geographical location.
