According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers in the health care field, including neurology, will have better than average job prospects in the next decade. Neurology is the study of the human nervous system and neurologists treat patients with disorders affecting the human brain, spinal cord and nerves such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s. Educational requirements include completing both undergraduate education and medical school, and earning a medical degree before beginning a medical residency. After the residency is complete, a neurologist candidate must pass a board exam to begin practicing. Neurologists earn over $200,000 per year depending on their employer.
